— -- intro: The MTV Video Music Awards have promised to be explosive this year, with performances by the likes of Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Sam Smith. "It's one of those moments in popular culture which I think is a must-watch," said VMA executive producer Garrett English about the show. "There are things that happen on the VMA stage that you will be talking about for weeks, months, and in the case of Miley Cyrus, years after." The must-watch moment of the night promises to be a performance by Beyoncé, English said, but if this show is anything like the telecasts that have come before it, viewers' jaws are sure to drop throughout the night.
