— -- Woody Allen is coming to TV ... sort of.

The famed director signed a one-year deal with Amazon to produce a season of his yet untitled project, which was announced today.

It will air on Amazon Prime Instant Video.

Allen, 79, will write and direct his first stint on digital TV, a half-hour series. Casting will be announced at a later date.

“I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price [VP of Amazon] will regret this," Allen joked in a news release.

Price added, "Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series. From 'Annie Hall' to 'Blue Jasmine,' Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.”

This comes on the heels of Amazon's first big hit "Transparent," which won big at the recent Golden Globe Awards this past Sunday.
