'Wonder Years’ Cast Reunites Live on ‘GMA’

— -- It was the TV time capsule that captured the spirit of the baby boomer generation -- all through the inner musings of Kevin Arnold.

The 1988 ABC debut of “The Wonder Years” followed Kevin Arnold, played by breakout star Fred Savage, as he navigated adolescence in the 1960s, a nostalgic look-back narrated by his adult voice.

At the show’s heart was a girl-next-door kind of love story between Kevin and Winnie Cooper, played by Danica McKellar, and an unwavering friendship with the highly allergic Paul, also known as actor Josh Saviano.

The memorable moments played out both on screen and in real-life as not only Kevin and Winnie shared their first kiss, but so, too, did Fred and Danica, the young actors growing together up on camera.

The show was so ahead of its time it won an Emmy award for outstanding comedy series after just six episodes, also successfully winning the hearts of millions of fans over those six seasons.

Even though the iconic series has been off the air for more than two decades, “The Wonder Years” stood the test of time.

“Good Morning America”target="_blank" recently met the cast on tape for their first reunion in 16 years, but today Danica McKellar, Fred Savage and Josh Saviano joined us live in Times Square to take our audience behind the scenes of the classic show and celebrate the release of the series' DVD set.

The three all had exciting life updates to share.

"It’s been an amazing year of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and then getting engaged," McKellar said on "GMA". "A lot of great stuff"

Saviano recently played an attorney on "Law & Order," and in a case of life imitating art, he is also a real-life lawyer who advises celebrities on how to become brands.

"I’m an attorney now, and I played one on TV a coupled of weeks ago, and that’s going very well," he said on "GMA." "I’m kind of back into the entertainment world, but helping people who are on the talent side become brands."

Savage was inspired by his time on "The Wonder Years" to become a director, now working on another hit ABC show, "Modern Family."

"I’m directing television, which is honestly what I've always wanted to do every since 'The Wonder Years,'" Savage said on "GMA." "I was always so interested in the camera and what it was doing. I’m doing what I’ve always wanted to."
