Sept. 7, 2010— -- Beauty products with anti-aging claims are everywhere you look, but do any of them really work?

The Good Housekeeping Anti-Aging Awards is the first scientific study to compare anti-aging products in a dozen categories. Rosemary Ellis, the editor-in-chief of "Good Housekeeping" magazine, shared some of the winners with "GMA."

Over 18 months, The Good Housekeeping Research Institute tested 90 products in 12 categories, conducted 3,000 lab tests, took 5,600 before and after photos on 820 female volunteers, ages 35 and older, and tallied more than 1,800 questionnaires from consumer testers.

The scientists at the Research Institute then conducted before-and-after evaluations using:

A Visia Complexion Analyzer that counts wrinkles and age spots, examines the skin's texture, and exposes any UV damage before it appears.

A Cutometer, which measures the firmness of skin.

A Chroma Meter, to read the color of age spots, dark circles, and red patches.

A Corneometer, which measures the moisture in the skin.

The 14 winning treatments and 12 honorable mentions received the highest rankings in lab and consumer tests. While some of the winners are a little pricey, many of the products are under $40.
