2019 Met Gala red carpet: Lady Gaga, Billy Porter, Cardi B make showstopping entrances

Lady Gaga and Billy Porter made showstopping entrances this year.

The Met Gala has become one of the biggest and highest profile fashion nights of the year.

Celebrities, designers and fashion insiders all come out wearing the most showstopping looks for the annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and this year is no exception.

This year's theme is "Camp: Notes on Fashion" and no, we’re not talking about tents or the outdoors. Described as extravagant, fun and tongue-in-cheek, the camp theme provided some of the most eye-catching and outrageous looks. From Lady Gaga's entrance featuring not one, not two, but four separate looks, to Billy Porter's arrival on a pedestal channeling Cleopatra, the gala served as a defining moment for the camp aesthetic.

Here are some of our favorite looks from the night:

Lady Gaga

Kicking off the night in camp style, Gaga, a co-host of this year's event, arrived at the gala in the most grandiose way, revealing not one but four separate and epic looks on the red carpet.

Billy Porter

Billy Porter, all glammed up in gold, also made one of the most memorable entrances of the night. Channeling Cleopatra, he was carried onto the carpet lying on a pedestal held by six shirtless men.

Cardi B

Okurrr! Rapper Cardi B wowed onlookers as she made an entrance in a flamboyant bird-inspired red gown with a huge train and feather details.

Katy Perry

Baby, you’re a chandelier?! Katy Perry lights up the pink carpet in this chandelier dress that looked like it was inspired by Lumiere from "Beauty and the Beast."

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo! Zendaya transformed into Cinderella on the pink carpet.

The singer/actress was a real-life Disney princess complete with the blonde hairdo, a corset ball gown that lit up when her stylist waved a magic wand and a tiny purse shaped like a pumpkin carriage.

Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West

Red carpet royalty Kim Kardashian West brought the drama, wowing in an outfit that looked like water was dripping from head to toe. Kanye West kept it simple by her side in a sporty black suit.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas

Lupita Nyong'o

The “Black Panther” and “Star Wars” actress was unmissable in a pink Marie Antoinette-inspired column gown with a rainbow top, feathery wings, a rainbow folding fan and jewels galore to match.

Camp is believed to have originated in the 17th century, and many celebs, including Nyong’o, drew on elements from that period. The Oscar-winning actress put her own spin on camp by honoring her culture with an afro headpiece adorned with hair picks.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Picture perfect! Tracee Ellis Ross was a walking masterpiece, dressing up her black gown with a literal gold frame around her face.

Constance Wu

Actress Constance Wu dazzled in a flapper-inspired look. The "Crazy Rich Asians" star sashayed onto the pink carpet in a beaded silver gown.

Ashley Graham

The model donned a menswear inspired look: a printed-pink blazer with green details.

Jared Leto

If there was a prize for the most outrageous accessory, it would go to Jared Leto. The actor paired his diamond-embellished red getup with a bust of his own head!

Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani rocked a fierce jewel-studded white leotard, draped over with a long fur coat.

Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart

“Riverdale” co-stars and real-life couple Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart weren’t afraid to take on the camp aesthetic with their playful looks. Sprouse wore a maroon suit with flower prints and Reinhart donned an abstract light blue minidress with a 17th century-inspired hairdo.

Bella Hadid

Bella Hadid brought old Hollywood glam to the gala in a revealing black dress encrusted with diamond details. The model accessorized with a stack of jeweled bracelets on both arms.

Jennifer Lopez

The singer dripped in beading from head to toe. Lopez wore a backless white sequin dress with a matching white beaded wig.

Kylie and Kendall Jenner

Sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner coordinated outfits with extravagant feathered gowns. Kylie wore a lilac diamond-encrusted mermaid gown, while Kendall matched in an orange feathered gown.
