Brooke Burke-Charvet on De-Cluttering Your Life and Soul
She discusses her new book, "Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Joy of Less."
— -- Brooke Burke-Charvet has a new book out called “Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Joy of Less,” in which she’s helping people learn how to de-clutter not only their homes, but also their lives.
She certainly practices what she teaches, too.
“It’s so important to figure out how to have less so that you can have more,” she said on “Good Morning America” today. “It’s not just the material possessions, it’s about learning how to say ‘no,’ it’s about not being overly scheduled. The power of ‘no,’ being able to say ‘no’ to things you don’t really enjoy and do it without guilt so you have more room in your life to do what you love.”
Burke-Charvet explained how she gets her family of four to unplug from their devices and how she gets rid of objects they do not need.
“It’s a little bit of an obsession for me,” she said. “I have to stay organized to really manage my family or else I would drown in the chaos. I wrote one of the stories in the book and it’s all about gift, give, garbage. I like to donate, I like to give away to girlfriends, I like to share items in my closet that others might enjoy, but it’s also about teaching my children about how to get rid of things that they don’t need.”
“Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Joy of Less” was released on April 19.
