Oprah for President?

K A N S A S   C I T Y, Mo., Oct. 21 -- One of Oprah Winfrey's biggest fans is trying to kick off the talk show host's political career from a Kansas City car wash.

"This is the damnedest car wash promotion, or it is an effort that will forever change the face of American politics," said Patrick Crowe, owner of Wonderful Waldo Car Wash in Kansas City.

Crowe has been spearheading an effort to get daytime talk show host Oprah Winfrey into the White House.

The car wash owner began his "Draft Oprah" initiative over the weekend. He's been handing around a petition to his customers and asking them to sign it if they want Winfrey to run.

Crowe's even willing to give away free car washes on Saturdays to customers who sign his petition.

He's also handing out "Oprah for President" T-shirts to customers willing to go the extra mile.

"If you want a T-shirt you have to write a letter in your own hand saying 'Oprah, please run for president,'" Crowe said.

When Crowe's not at the car wash, he's driving around town in his vintage Ford, which sports a large "Oprah for President" banner.

The car wash owner says he believes there is no one more fit to run for president than Winfrey.

Meanwhile, the queen of daytime has said thanks, but no thanks.

She told ABCNEWS she's certain her future doesn't include a career in politics.

"People say 'never say never,' but when it comes to politics, I can say never," she said.
