Tip of the Day: How Often Should You Give Your Dog a Bath?
How Often Should You Give Your Dog a Bath?
March 22, 2011 — -- The frequency of bath depends on the dog breed, climatic conditions and general activity of the dog. Terriers and Schnauzers can be bathed once in 4 or 6 weeks as their fur is coarse and wiry. Pekingese and Cocker Spaniels have thick coats and hence, may need a wash at least once in 4 to 8 weeks depending on the climatic conditions. Poodles do not shed their coats and require a wash every 6 to 8 weeks.
Some dogs are highly sensitive or fussy with water and frequent bathing may not suit them. However, if your pet is prone to allergies, then you may need to bathe him more frequently. Similarly, if any of your family member is prone to dust or dirt allergy, you may need to wash the dog often. Hence, if you are bringing a new pet home, choose a breed depending on the requirements of your home.
