-- Question: If I have asthma, do I also have seasonal allergies?
Answer: If you have asthma, you have a very high chance of having seasonal allergies. The numbers that are frequently quoted are about 80 percent of asthma patients will also have seasonal allergies. What we're frequently asked, "What about if I have seasonal allergies, does that mean I'm going to have asthma?" Again there's a slightly greater chance that you may also have asthma. About 40 percent of seasonal allergy patients will develop asthma.
So when one goes in for treatment, they should be evaluated for both conditions and both things should be treated appropriately if they exist.
