Jan. 01, 2009 -- Question: Should I tell my employer that I have prostate cancer?

Answer: I think it's always best, honesty is always the best policy. I don't think that you can avoid being honest about this. There's no value in it for anyone. So my advice to patients is, you know, yes you should tell your employer. You know that you have a problem and when a person is informed, they're usually better able to be supportive of their employees. So, in general I think that's the right approach.
