May 27, 2009 -- Question: Is there anything I should do to prevent swine flu when traveling?

Answer: There's a great concern about traveling but I should note that WHO [World Health Organization] has not issued any specific travel advisories except very early on said not to go to Mexico unless you have a good business reason to go.

So traveling gives you a little bit higher risk because you're at close proximity in an airplane to people that are a row or two away from you on the airplane. So you're going to be at higher risk, although airplanes have very good ventilation systems, especially the later models of airplanes.

So yes, you're going to be at slightly higher risk because you're going to be in contact with more people and you're going to be in closer contact with more people, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't travel.
