Back to Where the Royal Romance Started

Feb. 25, 2011— -- The royal couple returned today to where it all began. The two met when they were students at St. Andrews University in Scotland.

Hundreds of people packed the rainy streets, hoping to catch a glimpse of William and Kate as they made their way to the school's quad. In a speech to 600 guests, Prince William called St. Andrews "the best university in the world," adding, "This is a very special moment for Catherine and me. It feels like coming home."

William studied geography during his time at St. Andrews, while fiancee Kate focused on art history. Professor John Walden, a senior lecturer in geography who taught the prince, told the Telegraph newspaper today, "I'm amazed that he managed to stay focused with all the obvious attention. He managed to stay focused for four years and keep his head down and get some work done."

Kate turned heads during the visit in a cardinal red suit with black boots. A palace representative refused to name the designer, telling the Daily Mail that the outfit was chosen by Kate from her personal wardrobe.

The university announced a very special wedding gift for the couple; a scholarship named in William and Kate's honor.
