— -- Sunao Tsuboi is an Hiroshima survivor. He is still going strong 70 years after the bombing and today continues to actively campaign against nuclear weapons.

Tsuboi, who was 20 at the time, was on his way to class when the bombing took place. He shared his story to mark the anniversary of the 1945 atomic bombing -- the first nuclear weapon used in war -- that killed 140,000 people. Another 70,000 were injured.

A second bomb, dropped over Nagasaki just three days later, killed another 70,000 people.

The attacks prompted Japan to surrender, marking an end to the fighting in the Pacific during World War II.
