Russia-Ukraine updates: Putin suspends key US-Russia nuclear treaty

President Vladimir Putin said he'd sought an "open dialogue" with the West.

Almost a year after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of neighboring Ukraine, the two countries are engaged in a struggle for control of areas throughout the east and south.

Putin's forces pulled out of key positions in November, retreating from Kherson as Ukrainian troops led a counteroffensive targeting the southern port city. Russian drones have continued bombarding civilian targets throughout Ukraine, knocking out critical power infrastructure as winter sets in.

France's Macron presents Zelenskyy with Legion of Honor

French President Emmanuel Macron presented Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with a Legion of Honor during Zelenskyy's visit to the Élysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday evening.

A video showing Macron giving Zelenskyy the medal was posted to Macron's official Twitter account, with the caption: "Tribute to Ukraine and its people. Tribute to you, dear Volodymyr, for your courage and commitment."

Macron reaffirms support to Zelenskyy

Macron reiterated his nation's support for Ukraine including more military aid.

"Ukraine can count on us to build peace," he said. "We want to lead this effort alongside you, as it is the indispensable complement to the war and resistance effort you are leading with your people."

Zelenskyy also heading to France

Following his meeting in the U.K., Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron and the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz in Paris on Wednesday, Macron's office said.
