Shailene Woodley Says She Doesn't Consider Gender When Falling In Love

March 6, 2014 -- Shailene Woodley doesn't have a type.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Woodley was asked about dating and her love life.

"I fall in love with human beings based on who they are, not based on what they do or what sex they are," she explained.

Indeed, Woodley, 22, seems to be very into making personal connections with those around her. Someone who is quick to hug strangers ("It's kind of like, 'Hey, I'm real. You're real. Let's connect,'" she said), the actress is poised to enter a new phase of her career with the impending release of her film "Divergent."

Though the actress who said her religion was "the Earth, man," was hesitant to take the role, Jennifer Lawrence advised her to reconsider.

"[She] said, 'You must do it. You will not regret it for a second. Yes, there are some hard things, but there are so many beautiful things that will come from an opportunity like this,'" Woodley said.

Not that she'll be splurging much.

Woodley said she doesn't have a permanent home, forages for fruit with her friends, refuses to wear fur or diamonds for ethical reasons and insists that she only wears vintage clothing.

"I'm going to be a citizen of this planet, and I'm going to do my responsibility and live in stride with nature instead of constantly fighting against her," she said.

In the not-so-distant future, fans may get the opportunity to taste-test some of Woodley's recipes. Asked about her plans for the next few years, she explained that she's not married to the idea of solely acting.

"I might open a restaurant, and it's going to be like restaurant in the morning, dance club at night," she said. "Who knows!"
