— -- For many parents, nap time is critical, not only for their children, but also for them.

That's why Bunmi Laditan's satirical video, showing creative ways she tried to keep her child from falling asleep in the car, has gone viral on Facebook. It's now been viewed more than 2.1 million times.

Laditan, a stay-at-home mom living in Montreal, told ABC News that preventing her three kids from falling asleep in the car is essential for her routine.

"A one-minute doze off can compromise the whole nap time situation," she said. "Nap time for so many parents -- especially stay-at-home parents -- is everything. That one-hour or three-hour moment of the day that you get to yourself is like a mental oasis. So having that taken away from you is so rough."

In the video, Laditan, 32, opened the windows, told stories, offered her child candy, juggled and even beatboxed to get her child to stay awake.

"Let me tell you a story, honey," she said to her toddler in the video. "Once upon a time, a baby fell asleep in the car and mommy didn't get her me-time."

Although the video is clearly staged for laughs, the California native said she's used some of the methods from the bit in real life.

"I've tried to open the windows, sing songs," Laditan said. "[I say,] 'Look! There's an airplane,' when there's no airplane," she said, or, "'Here, have a lollipop!' Anything to get them to just stay awake."

Spoiler alert: the video doesn't end well.
