'Otterly' Adorable Stranded Sea Otter Pup Finds New Forever Home

Take a look at this little lady, a baby sea otter pup getting lots of much-needed TLC after being found stranded on a beach in Southern California earlier this month.

Wildlife officials rushed her to the Monterey Bay Aquarium after discovering she had somehow managed to survive a night all alone without the protection or care of her mother. They nurtured her for three weeks to regain her strength, and now, the much happier and healthier baby otter has found a new home in Chicago.

“At approximately 4 a.m. on Oct. 28, she arrived at her new forever home at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, where we will continue to provide her with the care she needs and where our trainers will teach her, essentially, how to be an otter,” the aquarium wrote to ABC News.

Although she’s yet to be named, the baby is coming along swimmingly despite weighing less than two pounds when she was found. She has started using her rear flippers for swimming and is attempting to dive under the water, even though she can’t quite make it yet because her pup fur is still very buoyant.

It’s safe to say the little southern sea otter pup, a threatened species, is loving her life, learning to be a big-girl otter in the water.
