A series of epic panoramas in East Africa, photographer Nick Brandt records the impact of humans in his book "Inherit the Dust," which documents places where animals used to roam, but no longer do. In each location, Brandt erects life-size panels of one of his animal portraits, setting the panels within a world of explosive urban development, factories, wasteland and quarries. This image is a long exposure to convey the impression that the modern human world is leaving the natural world of the chimpanzees and other creatures.
