WASHINGTON, March 31, 2011— -- The budget battle on Capitol Hill comes to a head. As both sides try to portray the other as extreme, will a deal to slash spending keep the government open for business? Two top senators, Democrat Chuck Schumer and Republican Jeff Sessions, face off in a "This Week" debate.

Then, the crisis in Libya heats up as NATO takes command of the air war. As Gadhafi's forces counterattack and retake territory from rebels, are the air strikes working? Should the U.S. provide military assistance to the rebels on the ground -- and who are they? What are the risks to taking sides in a civil war? What is the end game?

President Obama's former National Security Adviser Gen. Jim Jones (Ret.) comes to "This Week" to assess the conflict in Libya and the broader Middle East. With Syria, Yemen and Bahrain in crisis, Christiane Amanpour will ask the former Marine Corps Commandant and NATO Supreme Allied Commander about the appropriate use of military power.

Plus our powerhouse roundtable with George Will, Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman of the New York Times, Republican political strategist and former Pentagon spokesperson Torie Clark and David Ignatius of the Washington Post take on the "Obama Doctrine." And with new job numbers out this week, is the economy finally gaining traction? Will inflation fears reverse the momentum?

Sunday, only on "This Week with Christiane Amanpour." You won't want to miss it.
