— -- Donald Trump, a notorious tweeter, took to the social media platform early this morning and wrote his first tweet as president-elect.

"Such a beautiful and important evening! The forgotten man and woman will never be forgotten again. We will all come together as never before," Trump tweeted to his 13.5 million followers at 6:36 a.m., just a few hours after giving his victory speech at a hotel in midtown Manhattan.

Trump's Twitter bio also had been updated. It now reads "President-elect of the United States."

When the real estate developer-turned-commander becomes president, he will assume the @POTUS twitter handle, with its 11.4 million followers.
