Why the state is significant:

Idaho is among the most conservative states, so much so, that Idahoans have not elected a Democratic presidential candidate since 1964.

In the last ten elections, Idaho has backed the eventual general election winner five times: Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1984, George H.W. Bush in 1988 and George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004.

Fast facts:

In 2012, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney defeated then Sen. Barack Obama in the Gem State, 64 percent to 32 percent.

In 2008, Democrats decided to elect their delegates in caucuses on Super Tuesday, February 5.
