Mike Pence Dismisses Reports He Was Contemplating Leaving Trump Campaign

Pence said reports he is leaving are "absolutely false."

— -- Donald Trump's running mate, Mike Pence, decried reports that he was thinking about leaving the campaign as "absolutely false."

"That was absolutely false ... These rumors just furl around presidential campaigns," Pence said on Fox News this morning.

The Indiana governor then said he was "proud" of his running mate's performance during last night's presidential debate and that he is "looking forward to being on the campaign trail today."

The rumors of Pence's jumping ship surfaced on Saturday, a day after a 2005 video was released of Trump making lewd comments about women.

“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait,” Trump can be heard on tape telling Billy Bush, at the time a host of “Access Hollywood.” “And when you’re a star, they let you do it ... You can do anything.”

Pence canceled a Saturday appearance at House Speaker Paul Ryan’s Fall Fest event in Milwaukee and released a statement in response to the video.

“As a husband and father, I was offended by the words and actions described by Donald Trump in the 11-year-old video released yesterday. I do not condone his remarks and cannot defend them. I am grateful that he has expressed remorse and apologized to the American people. We pray for his family and look forward to the opportunity he has to show what is in his heart when he goes before the nation tomorrow night.”

Trump issued a statement that read, “This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago” and apologized “if anyone was offended” by his comments.
