— -- Nitya Venkataraman is a producer for ABCNews.com, based in the ABC News Washington bureau. A member of the digital media group since 2006, Venkataraman has contributed to the site's political content, including coverage of the 2006 midterm elections and 2008 presidential election as well as other stories of national and political interest.

Venkataraman also works closely with the Innovation and Special Projects team for ABC News Digital, striving to integrate web, television and technology to build the prominence and reach of ABCNews.com. In this capacity, Venkataraman has contributed to the development of ABCNews.com's special sections for the 2008 presidential debates, ABC News' '50 States in 50 Days' series, election night digital coverage, the inauguration of President Obama and the national health care debate. She also participates in continuing efforts to intergrate various forms of social media and multimedia across the site.

In April 2009, Venkataraman was part of the team that unveiled the redesigned "Good Morning America" Recipes index.

Before joining ABC News in 2006, Venkataraman worked for two years as a production coordinator and researcher for "Nightline." During this time, she also contributed to The Note.

Venkataraman grew up in Pittsburgh and has a master's degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University and a bachelor's in anthropology and history from Carnegie Mellon University. She was selected to be the student speaker for Carnegie Mellon's university-wide commencement ceremony when she graduated in 2001.
