--SHOULD BERNIE DROP OUT? During a Good Morning America town hall today, Hillary Clinton said that she would never tell anybody what to do, but if rival Bernie Sanders does drop out, she hinted that she wants him to help her win the support of his fans, according to ABCs MEGHAN KENEALLY. She cited her work on behalf of Obama in the lead up to the 2008 convention as an example.  "When I withdrew in June of 2008, polls were showing that at least 40 percent of my supporters weren't going to support President Obama," Clinton said. She went on to say how she campaigned for her delegates to support Obama, going "from group to group, even as late as the convention." "I'm hoping that the same thing will happen this time," she said. http://abcn.ws/1MKeCiX

--FUN FACT -- BILLS MOST ANNOYING HABIT: Clinton was asked to name her husband, former President Bill Clinton's most annoying habit. "Oh, my gosh, where do we start? How long do we have?" Clinton said with a smile, ABCs VERONICA STRACQUALURSI and PAOLA CHAVEZ note. "Okay if you don't tell anybody. No matter how tired he is he always feels like he has to read before he falls asleep. So he used to have the light on..." Clinton said. "He always falls asleep so that means I have to get up, go around and turn the light off on the other side of the bed." http://abcn.ws/1MKeCiX

--THROWBACK THURSDAY -- CLINTONS FIRST APPEARANCE ON GMA: Clinton has worn many political hats throughout the years but her first appearance on "Good Morning America" had nothing to do with her roles as secretary of state, Democratic presidential candidate, New York senator or first lady. Instead, a 40-year-old Clinton was interviewed because of her involvement with the American Bar Association. In 1987, she became chairwoman of the newly created ABA Commission on Women in the Profession. The GMA appearance was in August 1988, while her husband, Bill, was the governor of Arkansas. --AFTER NEW YORK LOSS, SANDERS CAMPAIGN PLEDGES TO STAY THE COURSE: In the wake of a loss in New York -- worse than his team had imagined and with questions mounting about the progressive underdogs next moves, Sanders senior staff argued Wednesday that they have not lost, they have a plan to win, ABCs MARYALICE PARKS reports.  One of his senior strategists, Tad Devine, told ABC News Wednesday that Sanders' team was not planning on reworking its message or strategy as a result of the New York loss. I dont think we have to change our message, Devine said. We still think we have the winning message and we have the most credible candidate to deliver it. He continued: I dont think we are rejiggering fundamentally anything here. http://abcn.ws/1MIQCwt

--TRUMP SAYS CAITLYN JENNER COULD USE ANY BATHROOM IN TRUMP TOWER: Appearing this morning on NBCs Today Show, Republican frontunner Donald Trump was asked about the North Carolina bathroom bill, ABCs CANDACE SMITH reports. North Carolina did something that was very strong. And they're paying a big price, Trump said. He added that the state should leave it the way it is and allow people to use the bathroom they feel is appropriate. He was then asked if Caitlyn Jenner would be free to use any bathroom she wanted if she walked into Trump Tower. That is correct, the New York businessman replied.

DELEGATE DUEL

--THE REAL MAGIC NUMBER THAT TRUMP NEEDS TO HIT IS LIKELY LOWER THAN 1,237.  The magic number for Republican presidential hopefuls to clinch the party's nomination is officially 1,237 but now there is speculation that, in practice, it might actually be a bit lower. The number of delegates required to secure the nomination is technically the simple majority of delegates -- 1,237 -- but after Donald Trump's decisive win in the New York primary Tuesday night, there is some talk that he won't need as many to essentially secure his spot. ABCs MEGHAN KENEALLY writes, experts differ on how low that hypothetical number could go. http://abcn.ws/1U6Gtvb

--WHY WINNING PENNSYLVANIAS POPULAR VOTE ISNT ENOUGH TO WIN ITS GOP DELEGATES. When Republican voters head to the polls to cast their vote in the presidential primary in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, helping to nominate the presidential candidate of their choosing is not as simple as selecting the candidates name on the ballot. Because of Pennsylvanias unusual delegate allocation process, what will carry more weight is the delegates who voters select to represent their district at the Republican convention. And the three remaining GOP presidential campaigns are waging shadow campaigns to get friendly delegates elected. ABCs JORDYN PHELPS and BEN GITTLESON has more. http://abcn.ws/1NlJxSr

YESTERDAY ON THE TRAIL with ABCs VERONICA STRACQUALURSI and PAOLA CHAVEZ

TRUMP REMINDS CROWD THAT HE COULD BUY ELECTIONS (IF HE WANTED TO). Donald Trump yesterday continued to decry the rigged system he sees in politics. He began by talking about the actions he says some campaigns take to woo delegates, according to ABC's CANDACE SMITH. They can take the delegates, they can put them in airplanes and fly them to resorts, they can have dinners with them, he said at a rally in Indianapolis. They can put them in hotels. Essentially, what they're saying is they can buy the election. The billionaire businessman then reminded the crowd at the Indiana State Fairgrounds that if buying elections were a game, he would definitely be the winner. "I can buy more elections than they ever thought of. Believe me, but I think it's such a bad system, he said. It's so unfair and it really is. http://abcn.ws/1SutVvf

TEAM TRUMP CONFIDENT OF SECURING 1,400 DELEGATES. Donald Trumps campaign projects the Republican front-runner will accumulate over 1,400 delegates, nabbing him a first ballot nomination win at the GOP convention in Cleveland, according to an internal memo obtained by ABC News. The memo, circulated within the Trump campaign late Tuesday night, provided a bullet point list of talking points to Trump surrogates, ABCs PAOLA CHAVEZ, VERONICA STRACQUALURSI and KATHERINE FAULDERS report. Speaking of Delegates we are working every delegate elected just as hard as the other campaigns the Cruz spin machine produces more lies than anything else, the memo reads. Our projections call for us to accumulate over 1400 [sic] delegates and thus a first ballot nomination win in Cleveland. We will get most of the delegates and we will, in just another week, close the door on other candidates getting to 1237 before the convention." http://abcn.ws/1WG4YzK

DEFAMATION SUIT AGAINST TRUMP LIKELY FACES HURDLES. A Republican strategist suing Donald Trump for defamation must clear high legal hurdles to prevail in her case against the GOP front-runner, according to experts. In a lawsuit filed this week, veteran GOP strategist and frequent Fox News contributor Cheryl Jacobus is seeking at least $2 million against Trump, his campaign and campaign manager Corey Lewandowski for their allegedly false claims against her. But legal experts say Jacobus will face difficulty winning the case. Not only must she prove the statements were false and defamatory, she also faces a more exacting legal standard if she is deemed to be a public figure. CRUZ NOW SAYS WE ARE HEADED TO A CONTESTED CONVENTION. Sen. Ted Cruz for the first time said he believes the Republican Party is headed to a contested convention. Cruz had previously called a contested convention likely and that it seemed the party was heading in that direction. But after a disappointing third-place loss in New York Tuesday, the Texas Republican is no longer saying he plans to beat front-runner Donald Trump at the ballot box. ABCs JESSICA HOPPER, PAOLA CHAVEZ and VERONICA STRACQUALURSI have more. http://abcn.ws/1Vk1dk

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

IN AD, CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE SAYS HE WILL HELP BUILD TRUMPS WALL. Some Republicans may be worried that Donald Trump could hurt down ballot candidates in November if he's the GOP presidential nominee, but theres at least one candidate trying to align himself with the real estate mogul. ABCs SHUSHANNAH WALSHE reports, In a new ad that will likely be called offensive by some, Mike Pape, who is running for Kentuckys first congressional district, tries to portray himself as the candidate who can help Trump build the wall."  http://abcn.ws/1Swf6LM
