KYLE, S.D -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton took her campaign to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation this afternoon, promising to be a champion for Indian Country if elected president.

About 350 people gathered in the courtyard of the Little Wound School at Kyle for Clinton's visit, her fourth South Daktoa appearance leading to Tuesday's primary election.

"I will be your champion," Clinton told the crowd of mostly Lakota men women and children. "I will fight for you. I will stand up for you, and I will work my heart out for you."

She pledged to work for a new G.I. Bill of Rights, noting that Native American people have a strong tradition of serving in the nation's military.

Clinton was introduced by Iva Good Voice Flute, a U.S. Air Force veteran, who described the New York Senator and former first lady as "Someone who has fought for and delivered solutions."

South Dakota and Montana are the two final primary states as Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama fight for the Democratic nomination for president.

Diggo White Face, a Pine Ridge resident, came to Kyle to hear Clinton's message, even though he said he leans toward Obama.

"I think we need more change than she might offer," White Face said. "But it is great that she came to Kyle, and that some of our issues are part of a presidential campaign.

Kyle is about 300 miles west of Sioux Falls.
