“This Week” Beats CBS’ “Face the Nation” in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54; Leads CBS in Key Adult News Demo for the 3rd Consecutive Week

— -- ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” averaged 3.521 million Total Viewers and 966,000 Adults 25-54 on May 8, 2016, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “This Week” beat CBS’ “Face the Nation” (3.484 million and 925,000, respectively) by 37,000 Total Viewers and by 41,000 Adults 25-54, leading the CBS program in the key adult news demo for the 3rd week running.

For the 2nd week in a row, “This Week” improved on the previous week (3.282 million and 924,000, respectively, for 5/1/16) in both Total Viewers (+7%) and Adults 25-54 (+5%) to deliver its strongest numbers since March – since 3/20/16 and 3/27/16, respectively.

“This Week” surged on its Total Viewer performance from the year-ago Sunday by 27% (3.521 million vs. 2.773 million on 5/10/15). Further, “This Week” has turned in year-to-year Total Viewer gains for the 14th consecutive week and in 31 of 33 weeks of the season to-date.

Season to date, “This Week” leads CBS’ “Face the Nation” by 19,000 Adults 25-54 (956,000 vs. 937,000), beating the CBS program by its largest margin in the key adult news demo at this point of a season in 8 years – since the 2007-08 season.

“This Week” is improving by double digits in both Total Viewers (+16% - 3.295 million vs. 2.847 million) and Adults 25-54 (+10% - 956,000 vs. 871,000) versus its year-ago season averages. In fact, “This Week” is drawing its largest overall audience in 17 years and posting its strongest news demo performance in 7 years – since the 1998-99 and 2008-09 seasons, respectively.
