“Save My Life: Boston Trauma” Continues Sunday, August 2nd at 10:00 PM/ET on ABC
From the producers of critically-acclaimed “Hopkins, “Boston Med,” and “NY Med,” comes “Save My Life: Boston Trauma,” an adrenaline-packed series that follows trauma cases from the actual scene of unimaginable accidents. In this six-part series, viewers will accompany top tier trauma teams inside the emergency rooms and operating rooms of some of the nation’s most prestigious hospitals including the Boston Medical Center, Massachusetts General, and Brigham and Women’s. Lives that could be lost or traumatically damaged in lesser hands at less renowned medical centers are saved through feats of skill and commitment. Some cases begin with the first responders of Boston’s EMS who distinguished themselves at the Boston Marathon bombing more than two years ago. For those needing treatment, one thing is certain, Boston offers some of the best medical care available anywhere. “Save My Life: Boston Trauma,” airs SUNDAY, August 2nd at 10:00 PM/ET (10:00-11:00 pm) on the ABC Television Network.
In episode three, a teenage boy’s hand is severed in a shocking car accident on a rural Vermont road. Despite the trauma, he summons help from a neighbor while a police officer locates the missing hand. Even if he can reach Massachusetts General Hospital, a successful reattachment surgery is a long shot. But, beating the odds is why hand surgeon Dr. Jonathan Winograd comes to work each day.
Also in this episode: a Boston firefighter slips from the roof of a burning building and finds that what hurts most is his wounded pride. And a bad day gets worse when the local news reports that his wife is pregnant with the couple's third child –and they haven’t told her parents yet! Two more tales round out the hour: a bullet to the chest causes a young man to see the silver lining--a second chance to be a dad to four adorable kids who need him to stick around; and finally a man who just won't believe his car hit a tree, "it's just a branch, it's just a branch," he swears.
"I think most people have no idea that the rest of their lives may depend on which ER they go to and how good the care there is,” said executive producer Terence Wrong. "We see people who should have been disabled for life are able to survive unimaginable traumas and function normally. Some of these hospitals are that good!”
