“This Week” Wins 2nd Quarter in Adults 25-54 with its Strongest Performance in 7 Years

ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” won the 2nd quarter 2015 in Adults 25-54 (875,000), based on Most Current Data from Nielsen Media Research. “This Week” captured its first news demo win during a 2nd quarter in 21 years – since 2Q94.

For the 8th straight quarter, “This Week” (875,000) beat NBC’s “Meet the Press” (814,000) in Adults 25-54 (+61,000). In fact, “This Week” outperformed the NBC program by its largest news demo advantage for a 2nd quarter in 21 years– since 2Q94.

“This Week” defeated CBS’ “Face the Nation” (810,000) by its largest Adults 25-54 lead (+65,000) during any quarter in nearly 6 years and biggest during a 2nd quarter in 15 years – since 3Q09 and 2Q00, respectively, respectively.

“This Week” (2.683 million) outdrew NBC’s “Meet the Press” (2.623 million) in Total Viewers(+60,000) during the 2nd quarter for the 2nd year in a row and for the 7th time in the last 8 quarters.

For the 2nd year in a row, “This Week” turned in increases from the year-ago 2nd quarter (2.617 million and 755,000, respectively on 2Q14) in both Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 25-54 (+16%). In fact, “This Week” scored its most-watched 2nd quarter in 16 years and strongest performance in Adults 25-54 in 7 years– since 2Q99 and 2Q08, respectively.

ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” finished as Sunday’s No. 1 public affairs program in Adults 25-54 (946,000) on June 28, 2015, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. Ranking as the No. 1 public affairs program in Adults 25-54 for the 5th consecutive Sunday, “This Week” marked its longest winning streak in more than 20 years in the key adult news demo (since 9/11 – 10/8/94).

In Adults 25-54, “This Week” outdelivered CBS’ “Face the Nation” (+324,000), NBC’s “Meet the Press” (+99,000) and Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” (+586,000) to lead for the 7th time in the last 8 weeks. In addition, “This Week” led the CBS program by its largest news demo advantage in 5 years – since 6/27/10.

“This Week” was up week to week (2.693 million and 867,000, respectively, for w/o 6/21/15) in both Total Viewer (+1%) and Adults 25-54 (+9%), drawing its largest overall audience in 4 weeks and best news demo performance in 6 weeks – since 5/31/15 and 5/17/15, respectively.

For the 3rd straight week, “This Week” bettered its year-ago numbers (2.540 million and 795,000, respectively, on 6/29/14) in both Total Viewers (+7%) and Adults 25-54 (+19%).

Season to date, “This Week” is up in Adults 25-54 (+4% - 877,000 vs. 844,000) versus its year-ago season average. Growing its Adults 25-54 performance for the 3rd year in a row, “This Week” is delivering its strongest news demo performance in 6 years – since the 2008-09 season. In fact, “This Week” is the only program to grow in Adults 25-54, as CBS’ “Face the Nation” (-1%), NBC’s “Meet the Press” (-1%) and Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” (-1%) are down.

In addition, “This Week” is outdelivering NBC’s “Meet the Press” in Total Viewers (+20,000) and Adults 25-54 (+65,000) for the 2nd-straight year, seeing its largest news demo lead in 21 years – since the 1993-94 season.
