“This Week” Wins First 3 Weeks of the Season in Adults 25-54, Delivering its Strongest Competitive Start to a Season in 20 Years

— -- ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” stood as the No. 1 public affairs program in Adults 25-54 (945,000 million) on October 11, 2015, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. Winning the first 3 weeks of the season, “This Week” delivered its strongest competitive start to a season in the key adult news demo in 20 years – since the 1995-96 season. Further, “This Week” has ranked No. 1 in the key adult news demo for the 7th straight week.

In addition, “This Week” (945,000) led NBC’s “Meet the Press” (695,000) by 250,000 Adults 25-54 to score its largest news demo lead over the NBC program in nearly 1 year – since 11/16/14.

For the 2nd week in a row, “This Week” improved on its year-ago telecast by double digits in Adults 25-54 (+17% - 945,000 vs. 809,000 on 10/12/14), seeing year-to-year growth in 6 of its last 8 telecasts.

Season to date, “This Week” ranks as the No. 1 public affairs program in Adults 25-54 (959,000), leading CBS’ “Face the Nation” (774,000) by 185,000 and NBC’s “Meet the Press” (815,000) by 144,000. In fact, “This Week’s” news demo lead over “Face the Nation” is its largest at this point of a season in 17 years – since the 1998-99 season. In addition, “This Week” is beating “Meet the Press” in the key adult news demo season to date for the 2nd year in a row.

“This Week” is improving in both Total Viewers (+4% - 3.091 million vs. 2.967 million) and Adults 25-54 (+12% - 959,000 vs. 854,000) versus its year-ago season averages to post its strongest start to a season in 7 years – since the 2008-09 season.
