Johnson, Martinez and Smoltz earned induction on their first tries, while Biggio made it on his third attempt.

The last time four players were elected in a single year was 1955 and included Joe DiMaggio, Gabby Hartnett, Ted Lyons and Dazzy Vance.

The quartet will be inducted in Cooperstown on July 26.
