— -- DENVER (Ticker) -- The surging Colorado Avalanche try for their third straight win on Tuesday when they host the struggling Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, who are winless in their last six. The Avalanche have won six of their last seven games after winning just once in their previous eight. They are 12-7-2-0 at the Pepsi Center, where they have won five of their last seven games. Colorado completed a 2-0-0-1 road trip with a 5-4 overtime victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Alex Tanguay scored with just 76 seconds remaining in the extra session to cap a strong comeback by the Avalanche, who trailed 3-0 after the first period. Karlis Skrastins and John-Michael Liles had third-period goals as Colorado earned a point for the seventh consecutive games (6-0-0-1). Milan Hejduk scored in the second period on a penalty shot - the first of his career - as the Avalanche played without right wing Teemu Selanne, who is sidelined with a sore neck. Anaheim finished a winless four-game homestand (0-1-3-0) with a 2-2 tie against the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. Defensemen Vitaly Vishnevski and Todd Simpson provided the offense for the Mighty Ducks, who recorded 43 shots, including 11 in overtime, but did not score the decisive goal. Rookie Joffrey Lupul assisted on both goals for Anaheim, which fell to 0-3-3-0 since recording a 3-1 victory at Carolina on December 31. Anaheim has earned three points in two meetings with Colorado this season (1-0-0-1), including a 2-1 overtime loss here on November 18.
