Carson Wentz offers generous tip during bye-week trip
— -- PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz demonstrated his winning ways during the team's bye week.
Wentz, 23, was drafted out of North Dakota State?and returned to Fargo during the Eagles' off week on Oct. 1, running up a $1,000 tab with a group of friends. He then picked up the tab and left a $500 tip.
According to? CSN Philly, Wentz hosted a private party in a back room at Herd & Horns Bar and Grill last Saturday night after watching his alma mater beat Illinois State 31-10.
Brent Tehven owns the bar and is Wentz's friend. He vouched for the quarterback's generosity with various media outlets, including WTXF-TV in Philadelphia.
"He's a role model," Tehven told CSN Philly. "It isn't Johnny Manziel making it rain."
Philly-style cheesesteaks are reportedly becoming popular in Fargo restaurants because of Wentz's successful rookie season, as are replicas of his No. 11 Eagles jersey across the state.
"I have one, oh yeah. I didn't buy it," Ron Wingenbach, Wentz's high school coach at Century High in Bismarck, told CSN Philly. "Carson got it for me. It's up on the mantle; not touching that one. Autographed in a display case."
