Dynamo beats Isidro Metapan 1-0

HOUSTON -- Brian Ching scored in the 68th minute, lifting the Houston Dynamo to a 1-0 victory over El Salvador's Isidro Metapan at Robertson on Wednesday night in the teams' first game of CONCACAF Champions League Group A play. Ching, a second-half substitute, scored seven minutes after entering the game. Fellow second-half sub Stuart Holden sent a through ball into the area to Ching, who fired a shot past goalkeeper Alvaro Alfaro. Houston held Metapan to no shots on goal and three total shots overall. The Dynamo had five shots on goal and eight total. Houston (1-0-0, 3 points) is tied with Panama's Arabe Unido (1-0-0, 3 points) atop Group A. Unido beat Mexico's Pachuca 4-1 on Wednesday in Panama. Houston will play Unido next Wednesday in Panama in its next CONCACAF Champions League game. Metapan (0-1-0, 0 points) will face Pachuca (0-1-0, 0 points) on Tuesday.
