— -- KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs could have no worse a sight in a game they led by 14 points than running back Jamaal Charles being carried off the field with a right knee injury.

Charles put no weight on the leg as he was helped from the Arrowhead Stadium field in the third quarter as the Chiefs led the Chicago Bears 17-3.

Charles was briefly examined by medical personnel on the sideline before heading to the locker room. The Chiefs confirmed that Charles will not return to the game.

Charles missed all but two games of the 2011 season with a torn ACL.

The Chiefs have used Charcandrick West as their backup for Charles. West replaced Knile Davis in that role for the Chiefs early in the season.
