— -- PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- John Daly shot a 90 on Friday at the PGA Tour's Valspar Championship, his second-round score at Innisbrook driven by an 8-over 12 at the par-4 16th hole.

It was the highest round of Daly's PGA Tour career. He could have finished with an 89 if he hadn't missed a 4-foot putt on the final hole.

Daly did not make birdie en route to his round of 19 over. In addition to the 12, his card also included five bogeys and three doubles.

According to golfweek.com, Daly has shot a round of 80 or worse every season since 1991, the year he took pro golf by storm by winning the PGA Championship at Crooked Stick.

Daly hit his tee shot into the water on the 16th hole Friday. He twice tried to go for the green and hit into the water, then played it safe out to the left. Daly said he shanked a 7-iron, duffed a chip and took 11 shots to get on the green.

The two-time major champion said it was "a good 12."

Daly says he is more concerned with having the yips. He says it started last week in Puerto Rico. He took 70 putts over two days at Innisbrook.

He is 22 over for the tournament after having shot a 3-over 74 in Thursday's first round.
