— -- Louisville has dismissed Chane Behanan from the program, and Kevin Ware is expected to redshirt after injuring his leg.

The Cardinals announced that Behanan, a 6-foot-6 junior power forward, has been dismissed from the program just two days after Louisville lost to Kentucky at Rupp.

Behanan was suspended in the preseason and kicked out of the dorms, and Pitino made comments in which it appeared as though he might not return to the team. However, Behanan was reinstated and missed the season-opener.

Behanan has played 12 games and is averaging 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds. He did not score and grabbed seven rebounds in 20 minutes in Saturday's loss.

Behanan has been a key piece of Louisville's success over the past two seasons. The Cardinals won the national title last season and advanced to the Final Four during Behanan's freshman campaign. Behanan averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds last season.

The loss of Behanan is critical for a team that is struggling to get any production along its frontline. Louisville is 11-2 entering its league opener on Tuesday against Central Florida, but has played a lackluster non-league schedule and lost to North Carolina in Connecticut and at rival Kentucky.
