LeBron James still questionable

— -- DENVER -- LeBron James will be a game-time decision for the Miami Heat on Monday night against the Denver Nuggets.

James, who celebrates his 29th birthday on Monday, participated in the team's morning shootaround at Pepsi Center, though his activity was limited.

"LeBron did some, not all," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said of the team's practice drills.

Ray Allen, who is suffering from tendonitis in his knees, is also questionable for Miami, as are Chris Andersen (sore back) and Greg Oden (knee injury).

"We'll make those decisions before the game," Spoelstra said.

James strained his right groin on Friday night in the Heat's overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings. He sat out the Heat's 108-107 win the following night against the Portland Trail Blazers, the first game he'd missed this season. Michael Beasley started in James' place.

In James' absence, the Heat staged a comeback to knock off a Blazers team that entered Saturday night with the NBA's best record. Trailing by two points with 7.7 seconds remaining, the Heat got a game-winning 3-pointer from Chris Bosh. James, dressed in street clothes, hopped off the bench demonstratively when Bosh's shot fell through the basket.

Bosh scored a game-high 37 points, and  Dwyane Wade added 16 points for the Heat. Following the win, Wade spoke about the challenges of having James sidelined.

"We don't have our 6-9 point guard," Wade said. "We don't have the guy who leads us in every statistical category. Obviously, when he's in the game we rely so much on him offensively to score. And when he's out of the game, our package is not the same as when he's in, so we have to go to something different."

James will continue to receive therapy on the injury. He will test the groin in warm-ups before deciding in consultation with the Heat's staff whether to suit up against the Nuggets.

"It has to be a collective discussion," Spoelstra said. "But our guys are so competitive that we also sometimes have to take the decisions out of their hands. We try to do what we feel is best big-picture, but now take the player's opinion into consideration."

The Heat have been rationing Wade's playing time this season in an effort to limit wear on his knees. He has been out of action for eight of the Heat's 30 games this season, including the team's loss at Sacramento on Friday.
