— -- Miami running back Mark Walton has been suspended indefinitely by the school after he was cited for driving under the influence Saturday morning.

Miami police told The Associated Press that Walton was charged with DUI and that other charges are pending.

A person familiar with the situation told the AP that Walton is also under investigation for impersonating a law enforcement officer. That person spoke anonymously because the inquiry is ongoing.

"We are aware of the situation regarding Mark Walton and we have taken immediate action by suspending him from the team," Miami athletic director Blake James said in a statement. "We have no further comment at the time."

Walton was going through the booking process Saturday and it was unclear when he would make his initial court appearance or if he retained an attorney.

A rising sophomore, Walton had 1,054 all-purpose yards for the Hurricanes last season. He led the team with 10 total touchdowns (nine rushing, one receiving).

He was second on the team with 450 rushing yards and fifth with 293 receiving yards in 2015.
