The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed coach Chris Finch to a multiyear extension, the team announced Monday, the day before the Timberwolves host the  LA Clippers in the play-in tournament.

Finch's coaching staff also received extensions. Terms were not disclosed.

The Timberwolves finished seventh in the West after going 46-36 this season, Finch's second as coach, marking the seventh-best single-season record in franchise history. The Timberwolves also led the NBA in points per game (115.9) for the first time in franchise history. Finch's squad also led the NBA in 3-pointers made (1,211) and turnovers forced (1,339).

"It's been a season that all of us, including our fans, can be proud of,'' Finch said in a statement distributed by the team. "I'm grateful that my staff will continue to lead us forward.''

Finch, 52, has 62 wins in two seasons, which ranks fourth in franchise history. His .504 winning percentage trails only the late Flip Saunders' .521 mark.
