— -- The Oakland Raiders will name Tony Sparano as their interim head coach, a team source told ESPN's Jim Trotter.

The Raiders will officially announce the move at a 5 p.m. ET news conference Tuesday, less than 24 hours after firing coach Dennis Allen.

Sparano had served as the Raiders' offensive line coach.

The 42-year-old Allen was 8-28 as Oakland's coach. He was fired after the Raiders, who retooled their roster this past offseason, suffered an embarrassing 38-14 loss Sunday to the Miami Dolphins in London, dropping their record to 0-4.

Sparano, 52, spent parts of four seasons as the Dolphins' head coach from 2008 to 2011, going 29-32 and guiding Miami to the AFC East Division title in his first year.

The Raiders were 8-8 in the two seasons before Allen became coach. Firing Allen is a major pockmark for Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie, as Allen was his first hire after being picked to succeed Al Davis as Oakland's football decision-maker in January 2012.
