— -- Less than two weeks after harsh NCAA sanctions were levied against the university, Daryl Gross is out as athletic director at Syracuse, according to a report by Syracuse.com.

The website, citing sources, said it is unclear if Gross was fired or resigned. He is expected to remain in some position at the university, the report said.

Gross is in his 10th year as Syracuse's athletic director, helping the athletic program, among other things, depart the Big East for the ACC.

On March 6, the NCAA suspended Orange basketball coach Jim Boeheim for nine ACC games, took away 12 scholarships, and ordered that 108 wins be vacated as a result of a multiyear investigation into the university's athletic programs.
