The New Orleans Saints placed Rashid Shaheed on injured reserve Thursday, sidelining their leading receiver for at least the next four games.

Shaheed has a meniscus and was undergoing surgery on Thursday in Los Angeles. The procedure is expected to determine whether Shaheed will be sidelined for multiple weeks or the rest of the season, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Shaheed leads the Saints this season with 349 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions and is third on the team with 20 receptions.

Shaheed had already been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Denver Broncos as was Chris Olave (concussion), leaving the Saints without their top two wide receivers for the game.

Olave is second on the team with 23 receptions and 280 receiving yards.
