The Chicago White Sox are acquiring right-hander Lance Lynn in a deal with the Texas Rangers for right-hander Dane Dunning and a prospect, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The White Sox have been looking for a starting pitcher and they are landing arguably the best on the trade market. They also had been discussing a Sonny Gray deal with the Reds before pivoting toward Lynn, sources said.

Lynn, 33, was incredibly consistent as the ace of the Rangers, going 22-14 with a 3.57 ERA across the past two seasons. He joins a pitching staff in Chicago that includes  Lucas Giolito, Dallas Keuchel and  Dylan Cease.

Dunning, 25, made his MLB debut last season. He went 2-0 with a 3.97 ERA across seven starts.
