Giannis Antetokounmpo lost the triple-double he tried to secure in the waning seconds of the Milwaukee Bucks' win Sunday over the Washington Wizards by intentionally missing his own shot.

The game was just about over when Antetokounmpo dribbled to the basket and lightly tossed the ball off the backboard to himself to secure his 10th rebound and lock up a triple-double.

However, the NBA rescinded the rebound, sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe, as league rules state that for a field goal attempt to count as official, the player has to shoot "with intent to score a field goal."

"I was thinking about scoring the ball, but I feel like in those situations it's best to kind of keep the ball," Antetokounmpo said after the game. "But yeah, I just try to play the game smart and kind of stole one."

Giannis had 23 points and a season-high 13 assists in the win, which came a night after a home loss to Philadelphia that snapped a 16-game winning streak. It would have been his fourth triple-double this season.
