— -- An Australian bettor has made a handsome sum from taking two relative longshots to win the Australian Open.

An official with TAB, Australia's largest bookmaker, told ESPN.com that it will pay out $196,000 U.S. dollars for a $435 parlay bet one of its clients made for both Stanislas Wawrinka and Li Na to win the title.

TAB spokesman Matt Jenkins said that the bet was placed on Jan. 16 when the odds of both winning the Australian Open were 451/1.

Wawrinka, the No. 8 seed, beat the top two seeds, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, to win his first grand slam title on Sunday. Li, seeded fourth in the women's draw, had an easier road, not having to beat any player seeded inside the top 20.

Jenkins said the bettor placed the bet at one of the company's 2,900 outlets throughout the country and TAB only knows where the bet was placed but not the identity of the bettor since it was bet on with cash.

TAB reported that it took in $2.5 billion in total bets in 2013.
