— -- Toronto (24-22-4) at Florida (20-24-8) 7:00 pm EST SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs look to avoid matching their longest losing streak in 20 years when they visit star goaltender Roberto Luongo and the Florida Panthers on Monday. The Maple Leafs are mired in a mid-season crisis of sorts, having dropped eight straight contests for the first time since February 1996. Toronto rallied to send Saturday's contest with the Montreal Canadiens to overtime but eventually dropped a 4-3 decision. Defenseman Ken Klee tallied late in the third period to force extra time and Jason Allison registered a pair of assists for the Maple Leafs, who have not won since star defenseman and leading scorer Bryan McCabe went down with a groin injury on January 7. Toronto looks to avoid its first nine-game skid since the 1985-86 campaign when it visits a Florida squad fresh off a convincing 4-0 victory over the red-hot New Jersey Devils on Friday. Luongo made 22 saves to record his 26th career shutout and 100th career victory. Captain Olli Jokinen, Martin Gelinas and Jozef Stumpel all had a goal and an assist for the Panthers, who have lost both meetings with the Maple Leafs this season.
