Washington Nationals star Juan Soto said he has avoided a major injury to his left calf but may be sidelined for a few more days.

Soto told reporters Monday that an MRI taken late Sunday showed that "everything was fine" with his calf. The former National League batting champion was not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Miami Marlins and will take it "day by day."

"We're going to be good," Soto told reporters. "They said it's just a little tight, so it's going to take a couple days and see how it goes. It all depends on how I feel day by day."

Soto left Sunday's loss to Miami after being involved in a fourth-inning rundown. The All-Star outfielder flexed and pointed to his left leg after making a throw in right field in the third inning.

"You don't want to go out of the game that easy," Soto said Monday, according to The Washington Post. "I want to be out there. I wanted to give my 100 percent, so why not try it again? But definitely, whenever I start feeling something that is not right, I just take the decision to pull out of the game."

Soto, 23, is batting just .226 this season with 15 home runs and 33 RBIs but leads the majors with 67 walks.
