Washington Wizards to get Spencer Dinwiddie in sign-and-trade deal; guard to sign 3-year, $60M deal
The Washington Wizards are finalizing a sign-and-trade to acquire Brooklyn Nets free-agent guard Spencer Dinwiddie on a three-year, $60 million deal, sources tell ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Washington is sending Chandler Hutchison and a 2022 second-round pick to San Antonio as part of a multiteam trade, sources tell Wojnarowski. Brooklyn gets a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 pick swap from the Wizards.
Adding Dinwiddie gives the Wizards a replacement for Russell Westbrook, whom the team has agreed to trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Dinwiddie, 28, played only three games for the Nets last season after suffering a partial tear of his right ACL against Charlotte on Dec. 27.
The injury required surgery and knocked him out for the rest of the season, and Dinwiddie later declined his $12.3 million player option for the 2021-22 season to become an unrestricted free agent.
