Nov. 6, 2009— -- The highly anticipated and highly acclaimed Droid phone goes on sale today. It's the first Verizon Wireless smartphone to run on Google's software but it's not the only one arriving today. Verizon also unveiled the Droid Eris on Thursday. Priced at $100 dollars, The Eris is cheaper and lacks some of the features of the $200 Droid. The Eris also has a touchscreen but no slide out keyboard and its software is more limited than the Droid's.

There's a new gadget for people who just can't get enough of Twitter. TwitterPeek is a Blackberry-like device devoted entirely to tweeting. USA Today's Ed Baig has been testing it out and says there are a few problems. "First off, it was really slow. Delivery of messages on my test unit was inconsistent," Baig says. He also thinks consumers might be turned off by the price saying, "who's going to spend $99 dollars for this device, especially if you already own a smartphone on which you can easily access Twitter?" People seem much more willing to share the details of their life online because of social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace, but a Minnesota woman is taking sharing to a new level. A 23 year old teacher named Lynsee will broadcast the birth of her first child live on the social network Moms Like Me. She has been blogging about her pregnancy on the site and says broadcasting the birth is a way for her to teach other moms by using herself as a textbook.

There's a new iPhone app young parents may be interested in. The Cry Translator is designed to figure out exactly why a baby is crying in just 10 seconds. Its inventors claim it can tell the difference between five different types of crying and knows if your baby is hungry, tired, annoyed, stressed or bored. But most parents will probably tell you they don't need an app for that.
