Sept. 30, 2010— -- Facebook and Skype are talking about joining forces. Published reports say they're expected to combine their services, allowing Facebook members to sign in to Skype using their Facebook Connect accounts. Users could then send text messages, voice chat and video chat with their Facebook friends from within Skype. A deal is expected to be announced within the next few weeks.

Google is giving Gmail users more control over how their inboxes are organized. Users can now turn off the conversation view, which groups together related messages. Instead, they'll be able to stack them in chronological order, like most other e-mail programs.

Star Wars fanatics can buy a limited edition R2-D2 phone today. Verizon Wireless is selling a version of its Droid 2 phone designed to look like the famous droid. It includes themed widgets, a media dock and a new app, and comes preloaded with notification sounds, ringtones and wallpapers.
